This map shows the thermohaline circulation of the world's ocean currents. Specific features are areas of deep water formation, upwelling, cold deep currents, and warm surface currents.
In making this map, I used a map extent of 7.5 inches by 4.25 inches. An initial map was created using ArcMap 10.1 and exported into Adobe Illustrator where the final map was completed. The map elements are projected using the Miller Cylindrical projection. I chose this projection to prevent disruption of the ocean current symbols. The legend and ocean labels were created manually using Adobe Illustrator.
